Valor IT Powers a Global Workforce with Cisco Unified Communications

Company Profile
Client services Fortune 500 companies providing high-end application solutions. Client has a team of top developers and operations in locations throughout the world. Client has taken advantage of a worldwide talent pool for several years. Every product is designed, built and supported by a globally dispersed team. With more than 400 employees and contractors, the company depends on real-time collaboration to connect these global teams with customers as well as with each other.

The old phone system was obsolete and was resulting in dropped calls and performance issues resulting in dissatisfied customers and employees. Employees were using third-party services to make phone calls, thus increasing overhead and long distance charges.

The challenge was to provide a reliable, stable, flexible communication solution without drastically increasing expenses. Client maintains office locations in Scottsdale, Boston, Czech Republic, Costa Rica and Philippines with several other global remote offices.

Solution
Client engaged with Valor IT in 2006 to provide Cisco Unified Communications.

Results
Valor IT replaced Client’s traditional phone system with a Cisco Unified Communications solution, which consolidates all of the company’s voice and data traffic onto a single network. Cisco was the only vendor that could deliver a system with the flexibility, agility, and reliability that Client needed, in a manageable solution priced and designed specifically for global offices. Cisco Unified Communications Manager is the heart of the solution, delivering the call handling, mobility, security, and management capabilities that Client requires in a network-based platform that can also support a wealth of new features. For example, the solution helped Client setup Video Conferencing for global offices reducing travel budget. Cisco Unity lets clients check voice and e-mail messages from a single mailbox, delivered via email to user inbox with integration with Microsoft Exchange Server and Cisco Unified IP Phones provide clear voice communication. The phones’ customizable LCD screens can also be used to access applications or broadcast messages to any phone. The Client Global network runs on a Cisco IP network featuring Cisco routers and Cisco Catalyst switches. To safeguard sensitive information, Valor IT installed Cisco ASA 5500 Series Adaptive Security Appliance firewalls to control access to network information, both inside and outside the company. With Cisco Unified Communications, Client can handle all of its communication needs with a single, integrated solution. Users can communicate and work together using common devices and applications like IP phones, soft phones and web browsers. Client now has the agility it needs to deliver customized communications for its clients on a moment’s notice – a major competitive advantage. The agility provided by Valor IT solution using Cisco Unified Communications is helping Client expand its market base to attract new customers. The new solution is reliable with no dropped calls, better service and reliability. The $10k per month charges on outsourced conferencing is now zero. The employees can freely use the Internet to call other offices eliminating high long-distance charges.

Client Quote
“One of the biggest differentiators that we have found is that the network enables us to quickly make changes to meet our requirements. The time required to set up phones used to be two to three days and today we get it working in 10 minutes. We have noticed that our time to deploy services is much quicker, and that is due to a solid infrastructure foundation that Valor IT built. Valor IT’s ability to offer a single, complete solution further eases network, application and endpoint management for us. One of the advantages we have found in having a single partner is that all the user interfaces and all the different devices are the same. This removed any finger-pointing and increased our response time.”
